Recent fused and leaded commissions.

It always amazes me the variety of work I am asked to do. I think I have a certain style but when it comes to commission work that style becomes very varied, from the formal and geometric to the fluid and organic. When doing commission work I am always very careful not to be heavy handed and try and impose my ideas on the customer, it is all about collaboration so I guess that is why designs are so varied.

The above photos show the stages in making a leaded window for a door. The design is drawn out. It is a very geometric design. The glass is cut, then leaded together, cemented in then polished. All ready to be put ito the door. I must get photos when it is in situ.

Compared to that is a fused panel (see image below)I made not to long ago to hang in front of a window. The design is made , (this time fluid and organic) the pieces are cut out and laid onto a piece of clear glass. Then the whole thing is fused. If things don't go right it may have to be worked on again and put back into the kiln, sometimes two or three times.

So there you have it, two recent designs, using two different techniques , one fluid , one geometric.

Which do you prefer?
