Catching up in August.

Both July and August have been very busy but then when is a month not busy? Busy is good but sometimes I do feel like a break.
In the studio we have had the lovely Rhiannon, my work experience student getting to grips with cutting glass, making her own designs for "garden art" and making a whole heard of glass elephants. Little does she realize that I will be asking her back to help me out especially when I feel I have too much to do and those herds of elephants keep marching out the studio.

Last month I took part in the Americana music festival at the Sage, Gateshead. Initially I did wonder why I was there, sandwiched in-between cowboy shirts, stetsons and cowboy boots. It was a three day music festival starting on a Friday and ending on the following Sunday. Up until about 3 oclock on the Saturday all I had sold were three cards so at the point I just felt like going home and boiling my bead in a bucket as they say, or rather as I say. Anyway, I am not quite sure what happened but after 3 glass started almost flying off my stand. By the time Sunday came I had ended up selling quite alot and getting lots of  interest in my studio and a couple of commissions to boot, yipee!

Into the studio this month I have taken delivery of some of Steph Jamiesons work. Steph lives near the small town of Allendale where she has the freedom to experiment with smoke and fire to create beautifully simplistic ceramic sculptures of stylised fossils and prehistoric arrowheads. These unique piece of work will be available to buy from August the 1st in the studio. Prices range from £24 to £90.

Workshops carry on being really popular. The mini workshops that I do once a month are attracting more and more people which is great both for the studio and Gallery. I must write a reminder to myself to get the next set of workshops onto my web site for September to  December before this month finishes, that will be another thing to add to my ever growing list!
